Psalms

     If I'm ever frustrated, upset, or just have had a bad day, I find comfort in the book of Psalms. I don't think it's the most glamorous book of the bible by any stretch of the imagination,

 but it resonates within my soul.

Often, I get caught in: "God is in control and everything is according to his plan, so I just need to put my head down and keep on keeping on."

God is in control. But he wants to hear us.

Psalms is full of poems about the faithfulness of God and his immense power.

It's also full of laments, the feeling of being let down by God.

David cries out:

"Will the Lord spurn forever,
   and never again be favorable?
Has his steadfast love forever ceased?
   Are his promises at an end for all time?
Has God forgotten to be gracious?
    Has he in anger shut up his compassion?"
Psalm 77:7-9

There's something holy about being honest with God. It's repeated throughout scripture.

From Jeremiah's laments (Lamentations) and Habakkuk's cries in the Old Testament, to the famous words of Jesus "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

Even Jesus felt abandoned by God at his weakest moment.

My faith becomes tangible when I become raw and honest with Christ. Real.

Our faith becomes a sacred dance, to the rhythm of life.

Love Wins

     One of my favorite authors is Rob Bell, and he has a new book coming out in late March. It's entitled: Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived and it attempts to answer the question:

Who goes to Hell?

Even though his book hasn't come out yet, it's managed to create a great deal of controversy because some believe Bell presents a Universalist view of Salvation in his video preview. Rob Bell's writings (especially Velvet Elvis) have had a tremendous influence on my life, so any controversy should be treated carefully, with Bell given the benefit of the doubt. After all, nobody except for him and his publishers have actually read his new book.

Spring Time

In anticipation of the wonderful season that is Spring, I've changed the design to a spring-time feel. It's still in progress.

Folk Music

     Folk music has the intangible quality of being organic. Whether its the rich acoustic guitars of the Avett Brothers, the bluegrass of Cadillac Sky, the pop/blues of Ryan Adams, or the soothing voice of Amos Lee, something about these sounds just stirs the soul. In a world of auto-tune and incredible post-production processing on albums, a lot of the tangible qualities are lost.


 These songs feel real, alive, as if they contain the souls of the artists. 


 Organic.
